Faculty Advisory Council

The Faculty Advisory Council (FAC) oversees the content of the SWC site and in particular the content of the sessions before they are posted for student use. This advisory council has final say on all Student Writing Coach content presented for student use. We are pleased to announce the following FAC members:

Robert Begiebing, Ph.D.

Robert J. Begiebing, Director of the MFA in Fiction and Nonfiction at Southern New Hampshire University, has won three awards for excellence in teaching. He has taught English and literature for over 30 years, including courses from freshman composition to graduate writing workshops and theses. He received his B.A. from Norwich University, his M. A. from Boston College, and his Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire. In 2007 Governor John Lynch appointed him to the New Hampshire Council on the Arts. Begiebing is the author of thirty articles and stories and six books. His trilogy of New England historical novels includes “Main Selections” for the Literary and Mystery Guild book clubs and the Langum Prize for Historical Fiction. His writing has been supported by fellowships from the New Hampshire Council on the Arts and the Wallace Foundation.

John Langdon, Ph.D.

John W. Langdon earned his Ph.D. in History from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University, where he was a National Defense Fellow. After military service he began teaching at Le Moyne College, where he is now the senior member of the faculty after 38 years of service. He was Le Moyne's Teacher of the Year in 1989 and was named Kevin G. O'Connell Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Humanities in 1996. Langdon was Chair of the Department of History for seven years and Director of the Honors Program for two years. He is the author or co-author of five books, the most recent of which is “Connections: A World History,” written with Edward H. Judge and designed for the introductory college-level survey in World History. He also teaches a monthly session on world affairs for OASIS, a senior citizens organization in Syracuse; the session currently enrolls 550 participants.
