Autobiography

An autobiography is the story of a person's own life. In Student Writing Coach's Autobiography, you will write the story of your life thus far, along with providing a little insight into what you hope the rest of your life will be like.

What's involved?

  • You will be asked to discuss the various stages of your life, including your childhood, elementary school years, and adolescence.
  • For each stage of life, there will be an optional question set where you can detail a single event or experience from that time period that shaped your life.
  • The penultimate question set will ask you to reflect on some of your regrets and accomplishments and to discuss what you hope your future will hold.
  • The last set will help you write an introduction.

Is Autobiography right for you?

  • Does your assignment ask you to write about events and experiences from your own life?
  • Does your assignment ask you to write about your life in its entirety?
  • Does your assignment use words and phrases such as autobiography, life story, personal, you, or yourself?

Yes to all three?
Autobiography is probably right for you.

No to any?
If your assignment is asking you to write about a single event or experience from your own life but does not ask you to write about your life in its entirety, then take a look at SWC's Memoir.
If your assignment is asking you to write from the first-person perspective (using words such as I, me, we) but does not ask you to write about events from your own life, then consider Review - Live subject or Review - Recorded subject.
